Some acts of service look simple, yet they restore dignity, instill healthy habits, and create safer spaces for children to grow.
On August 27, 2026, Sta. Cruz Biga-a Elementary School in Biga-a, Lezo, Aklan celebrated the blessing and turnover of a PWD-friendly comfort room, a Grade 1 comfort room, and a handwashing facility. The project was spearheaded by the Rotary Club of Roxas, QC, alongside Kids Ahoy R.O.C.K. Philippines and Swan Shipping Corp.
For the students, these amenities are far more than concrete structures. They ensure young learners can attend to basic needs with dignity, practice proper hygiene, and feel fully included—especially pupils with disabilities.
Aligning with Rotary’s Area of Focus on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), the initiative promotes disease prevention, personal accessibility, and a healthier learning environment. What began as a vision during the term of IPP Wilyn Fenete was carried to completion in RY 2026–2027 through the dedication of Rtn. Johnna Sarabia.
, The turnover ceremony was graced by Ma’am Josefina Tupas (representing Kids Ahoy R.O.C.K. Philippines) and TLP Lay Lanie Chua (representing the Rotary Club of Roxas, QC and Swan Shipping Corp.), alongside devoted volunteers.
These new facilities stand as lasting proof of what community partnership can achieve. True "Service Above Self" is measured not merely by the size of a structure, but by the dignity, health, and hope left behind.
